'Go Vote' Campaign holds public forum to air Citizens' concern

Organisations of the Go Vote campaign,  including Maldives Aid, held their first public forum in Malé on Wednesday evening (23/7/08). The theme of the forum was 'Preparing for a Free and Fair Election' and included a lively discussion of voting rights, the importance of democracy and electoral processes.  A Question & Answer session followed to allow the audience to share their concerns for the 2008 presidential elections, including the role of the media and the threat of violence and bribery.

Maldives Aid registers in the Maldives

April 2008

The Ministry of Home Affairs registered Maldives Aid (NGO) on 29th April 2008 after being denied registration in March 2006. Maldives Aid have been conducting their activities in the Maldives as an unregistered organization with some difficulty prior to registration.

Maldives Aid Tsunami  Report

February 2008

Three years after the Asian tsunami, which devastated many islands in the Maldives , there remains much to be done. On 26th December 2007, the third anniversary of the tsunami, Minister Ismail Shafeeu admitted the relief work was slow and promised to hasten up the recovery process.
