UK Celebrity couple visits Maldives Aid desalinisation plant in Filladhoo

Maldives Aid and the island community of Filladhoo welcomed Michelle Heaton and Andy Scott-Lee, a UK celebrity couple spending their honeymoon in the Maldives. The couple arrived from  Island hideaway  resort to Filladhoo and were welcomed by the local school staff and Maldives Aid Coordinator Mariyam Seena.

A Playground for the children of Madifushi

Maldives Aid is delighted to announce the completion of the playground in Thaa Atoll, Madifushi Island donated by Media Innovations Group and Peak Development, in Memory of Peter Weston.  The Playground was supplied and installed by Male based company Omadu.

MALDIVES AID FUNDS RENOVATION OF PRE SCHOOL

Maldives Aid contributed to the renovation of a Pre School of Laamu atoll in the Island of Gan, Mathimaradhoo district. The renovation of the pre school was undertaken in partnership with the Local Youth NGO “Hadhunmathee Gamu Mathimaradhoo Zuvaanunge Jamiyyaa and was completed for the start of the new school year.

Education
In addition to the emergency aid supplied to the Maldives immediately following the tsunami, Maldives Aid has also supplied over 14 tonnes of educational supplies.

Books to the island schools

Maldives Aid has purchased books from the island capital Male' to provide some of the schools with some books. Maldives Aid coordinator in Maldives has produced a report on the schools that requested the books.

Emergency water to Maabaidhoo

Maldives Aid as provided Maabaidhoo with 7500 ltires (3 tanks full) of emergency water, bought from the island of Gan. However this quantity will only last the people for a few weeks.

Market building
Maldives Aid has been provided with an agricultural building by the UK-based company, Shufflebottom. The building is being constructed in Wales, from where it will be shipped to the Maldives.
