Aid history
Maldives Aid (UK Charity number: 1108658) was created as a conduit for sending emergency aid from concerned people throughout the UK to Maldivians affected by the Tsunami. Maldives Aid works in partnership with Friends of Maldives.

The Tsunami Aid collection started in the FOM office in Salisbury and following appeals on local radio the offices overflowed with aid. Collection points were set up in towns throughout the South of England and collated, checked and flown and shipped to the Maldives. To date over 120 tons of Aid has been sent by Maldives Aid, working in partnership with Friends of Maldives, to the Maldives.

The collecting, sorting, packing, organising of the emergency aid was primarly done by volunteers who worked tirelessly to help the Maldivian people affected by the Tsunami.

Maldives Aid has undertaken long term regeneration projects in the Maldives and will continue to be the main International Non Governmental Organisation dedicated to helping Maldivans who are conditions of need, hardship or distress.
